About Peter Crook Your Health & Acupuncture About Acupuncture Books Links

Acupuncture works by stimulating the body to heal itself.  Each of the many hundred acupuncture points has its own special healing function.  Most of the points are linked along meridians or energy pathways which travel to internal organs or the brain.  Some points relax us, some stimulate sluggish internal organs and some balance us.  Others remove pain.

After the practitioner has diagnosed the patientís condition, a choice of points is made that best suits the problem.  The acupuncture needles are placed in these positions and the body responds by doing what is needed.  The meridians transmit the messages to remove either physical pain or emotional discomfort, making the organs function normally again and creating a feeling of wellbeing.

So, acupuncture works without drugs, to enhance the very powerful natural healing processes of our body.
